Q: Why Alpha family camera having 2.5 times  more dynamic range then others?

A: Legacy camera normally have 3:1 linear dynamic range. this is limited by saturation of Cyan Magenta Yellow and Green filter that is having pre-matured saturation on 450 mV and minimum signal level on 150mv for 48dB S/N  hence have only 3:1 dynamic range ( 450m : 150mv = 3:1 ) . Mintron  Alpha series camera using proprietary DSP, special CCD, and special  RGB mosaic conversion algorithm to achieve 750mV saturation on red color and 50mV for 60 dB S/N level , hence Alpha series camera will have 7:1 dynamic range ( 750mV : 100mV = 7 :1   ) . Although it was measured as 10:1 in the lab for 60 dB S/N , however Mintron prefer to be conservatively and call it 7:1 dynamic range on 52 db S/N . which is 2.5 times better then all other competitor.  ( 7:3= 2.5 )
