Q: Alpha V family camera is able tosee 0.002 lux, can I use it for astronomic purpose star imaging?

A:  Alpha 63V1 (1/3" ) and 62V1 ( 1/2" ) CCD cameras are very good for amateur astronomic purpose. However, a cooling system will be required for professional astronomer. Although MINTRON does not supply cooling system with cameras, some of our customers have been successfully made their own cooling system by using 62V1 to take excellent picture of galaxy by using 2 sec. and slow shutter mode. In case, you do want to use 62V1 for astronomic purpose please specify 62V1-AST version to ensure the best CCD with almost zero defect will be specially selected. Of course the price will be much higher.
