Q: Why do Alpha family cameras have 6~7 dB of smear rejection ratio more than other cameras from other companies?
¡@
A: Alpha cameras have 126 ~127 dB smear rejection ratio which is 6~7 dB or 2 ~3 times more than others' because of 2.5 times more sensitivity and 2.5 times more dynamic range. A camera with 2.5 times more sensitivity and dynamic range will naturally provide 6~7 db more smear rejection ratio. For the same image, when all other cameras are using high speed shutter with 1/4000 sec. and have bad smear. However, Alpha camera have excellent image without smear by working under 1/1500 sec. Therefore, Alpha family cameras are the best cameras to work under the foreground or background with very strong back light and very strong infrared lighting spot such as candle or gas lighter.
* Note: This is very different from the technology that is using on Jaguar 63W1 which is with 154 dB smear rejection ratio and is 34 dB or 50 times better. More sophisticated double exposure technology is used on Jaguar for extra smear rejection ratio. This is the reason that Jaguar is listed on top among Alpha family cameras with 126 dB smear rejection ratio.
